The sales of motorbikes for the fiscal year ended 31st March, 2011 were higher by 35 percent at 3,387,040 units as compared to the 2,506,791 units whose sales were made in the financial year prior to that.
According to a statement made by Bajaj Auto Ltd. on Monday, it had a record year in the Financial Year 2011 having gross vehicle sales, motorcycle sales, three-wheeler sales as well as exports all of bringing in all-time high volumes.
Rajiv Bajaj, managing director of Bajaj Auto said that the firm is looking to increase its volumes to 7-8 million on the basis of its new models lined to launch in 2011 along with existing models like Pulsar and Discover. Bajaj Auto is the second-biggest in the 100-125 cc motorcycle field, and coming up with new models like the Duke 125 cc, the new Boxer in the second quarter of 2011-12 and bigger motorcycles from Kawasaki.

For three months ending December, the net profit of the company went up by Rs 23.1 per share. In real terms it means that the rise was by Rs. 6.67 billion as against Rs. 4.75 billion that was seen in the previous year.
