Whirlpool Corp. has issued a recall to 1.7 million dishwashers, posted to be the biggest U.S. dishwasher recall in three years, of its Maytag models with a potential fire hazard, the Consumer Product Safety Commission revealed.
The dishwashers are reported to be fitted with a faulty heating element that can short-circuit and ignite, the agency revealed today in a statement.
It advises consumers not to use the dishwashers and disconnect the power source by pulling the fuse or flipping a circuit-breaker.
