One of the very respected and huge business groups of India, Sahara group owned by Subroto Roy has now entered the hotel business to add to the various ventures in India.

The group is the sponsor of almost all the sports in India and has major real estate projects across the nation, with Aamby Valley being the most famous; it also owns TV channels under the Sahara network.

The Sahara group made a major purchase in London as it acquired the Grosvenor House in London’s Mayfair district which has 420 rooms and 74 suites and will mark Sahara’s entry in the overseas hotel business.

Bharti, Sahara to bid for Indian cricket team sponsorship

Though, a lot of excitement was expected with the process but just two corporate groups Sahara and Bharti Airtel have submitted the qualifying bids for sponsoring Indian cricket team.

Notably, even the effort of cutting the bidding amount by the BCCI has also not worked for the board as corporate India has once again shown little interest in the sponsorship rights for the cricket team.

While players like Reliance ADAG, Hero Honda, Videocon and Monnet Ispat were earlier expected to be the part of the process but it is now believed that they have opted out of the process.

I-T sleuths Look at Sahara Group Papers

Last month, the Sahara Group had fetched the ownership of the Pune team, one of the two new teams that came into being for the IPL season 2011 for a whopping amount of Rs 1702 crore during an open auction.

The IT team involving three officers and five inspectors in apart from their subordinate staff from the I-T department reached the Sahara Towers around 1 pm and reportedly looked at some documents till late evening.

Sahara India uncovered that it was not actually a raid, rather a survey operation wherein IT officers just pondered over the papers regarding IPL Pune team.
